The objective for the KCFF Film Festival poster campaign was to create a design solution that celebrates Canadian film, diversity, and creativity. Goals of the campaign included creating a cohesive festival environment by using a bright, fun colour palette. The project involved working with the client through the weeks long ideation and revision process. The poster was adapted to multiple campaign materials, such as apparel, program guides, street banners, and concessions.
The concept driving the poster design is called "audience," and it comes from the point of view of the filmmaker, or of the film itself. When a first time filmmaker debuts their premiere at a film festival, they're watching the audience reactions. This was captured in the poster to create a focal point of the audience emotions while experiencing a movie. Faces are expressive, and campaign materials change colours, faces, and emotions for a well rounded, cohesive festival experience.
